Dwell: a warm abode off the shores of east haven, connecticut
We took our first trip to New England as this year's summer dwindled down. This cozy home belongs to our friends who live in the quiet bay city of East Haven. The first image is the galley wall of their home entry. The wall comprises of carefully collected art, frames, masks, plates and mirrors. At the corner sits a folding chair upgraded with a faux sheep skin throw.
A beautiful thrifted wood mirror flanks the opposite wall reflecting more light to the corridor.
An angular bookshelf stretches itself in matching width to the wall.
A sufficient amount of green is added to the home which clearly brings life to the furniture.
People are always going for neutral and safe furniture pieces - which is perfectly fine but a pop of color here and there only brings a more personal touch. The green of the mid-century modern wood chair complements the hues of the green plants placed carefully around the space.
Here is a wider shot of the living space. The formal and clean lines of the chairs play interestingly with the big cushy sofa. This juxtaposition gives the room it's cozy feel. The smooth kantha throws folded on the ladder in the corner also softens the surroundings.
Just the mere addition of this handmade pottery plate under the planter adds a layer of depth to this tabletop.
The dining space is very airy - and a white tulip table lightens the space even more. Hence more focus goes to the food that is lovingly prepared and placed.
Lots of light filters in through a large skylight positioned directly on top of the stairs that leads to the sleeping quarters.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, a gallery wall of personal family pictures and favorite books are ready to greet. Hope you enjoyed this lovely home tour as much as I enjoyed spending my short time there.
I was recommended this web site by my cousin. I'm not sure whether this
