DIY: updated hand painted mirror

If you cannot tell by now, I absolutely love picking up vintage mirrors and refinishing them. This rectangular mirror was in very good condition already, but I thought I try something different. 

I finished it in a dreamy grey and added intricate hand painted patterns around the edge.

At first I taped the inside edge of the mirror and then started the paint. The new thing I tried here is that I only used primer as the finish paint. I just loved the shade of grey that the primer brought to the wood. Is this a good or bad idea - you tell me.....

This is how it came out after all the edges were complete.

Then I took my white paint marker and started the hand painted pattern around the edges.
