DWELL: my growing wall
So this is the wall in my corridor towards my bedroom. And this is the wall that continues to grow in my home. I keep adding pieces and one day I hope to cover every inch of it! Today we will focus on that red flower painting by the wall sconce.
This is what I started with. I basically painted over this painting. My dear friend's mother painted this for me. Well we sort of painted together. But it was mostly her. After I brought it home, I sort of felt that it was missing something.
So, I wanted to do a whitewash drip over it. I sprayed the painting with some water and then started dripping the paint.
As, I dripped more paint I kept spraying with water.
You have to do several of these to get desired results.
And there is no fixed right or wrong result for this. It really is up to you....when you think its just right.
I dripped a lot of white to the point that it started to get cloudy at the top, which is what I was looking for.
Once this dried up, I applied some more white.
After everything dried up, I used ModPodge to apply a quote on the entire painting to give it that glossy look. I don't know why, but I like this painting better when it is upside down. I try this trick with a lot of things by the way.
